All places are overbooked. Holidaymakers are daily entertained by concerts, they can visit a swan with her five cygnets, play basketball, tennis and croquet free of charge every day, go to the cinema in the evenings which is open every day and screens the best movies made in Kaunas and receive the best possible service in Vita Restaurant without feeling overcharged.\u201d This was a playful introduction of Kulautuva in 1939 by Lietuvos Aidas newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>How this town that was one of the most famous resorts around Kaunas, is remembered by people who lived there? How did the charming nature of Kulautuva, the banks of Nemunas and lush forests surrounding it affected the quality of recreation of those who came to enjoy the pleasures of this resort? What everyday stories and historical layers lie behind the unique recreation infrastructure that started its development here during the first decades of the 20th century? Which constantly changing local signs we can recognise in Kulautuva right now? This is probably one of the most important questions emerging when trying to answer what Kulautuva is today and who are we.<\/p>\n<p>This route is designed to memoralise the local memory; its characters are current residents of Kulautuva: born and raised, as well as those who arrived to live here from other places. The town\u2019s community opened photo archives of their families, shared their personal stories and thus provided the emotional context for their physical environment. In other words, buildings, streets, yards, monuments and parks became places that possess the spirit and the content.
